We create educational conversation cards designed to bring important topics to life, from online safety and positive choices to youth crime prevention. Our cards make it easy for young people to explore real-world situations in a way that feels engaging, relatable, and safe.

Meet the Creator

Fiona McLay

As the mother of a teenage boy and an educator, safeguarding and keeping children safe is a major priority for me - one that I am deeply passionate about. This commitment has been the driving force behind My Streets.

I have worked with vulnerable children and spent years teaching, adapting learning resources to ensure children can access the curriculum in creative and engaging ways. The benefits of immersing children and young people in interactive experiences is something I have seen first-hand.

As both a parent and a professional, I have often faced challenging situations and had to navigate sensitive conversations. I understand the anxiety of being a parent and the dangers children face — both on the streets and behind screens. Motivated by these experiences, I decided to put my skills and knowledge to the test by designing something that could contribute to a solution.

In response to the knife crime epidemic and broader child safety issues, I created My Streets during my final year at the University of Portsmouth. I believe that early intervention is key, and My Streets serves as a preventive measure in the form of conversation cards. I am dedicated to community safety initiatives and working collaboratively with organisations to promote community cohesion.

I am immensely grateful to all the children, professionals, and contributors who have been part of the My Streets journey.
